Stacking the photographs reveals the stars’ apparent paths around the northern celestial pole as the Earth rotates. Their natural colours, influenced strongly by surface temperature, become more noticeable along the trails. Earlier that day, a snowstorm had swept through the valley and threatened our plans. By nightfall the sky had cleared. The result records both the passage of time and the remarkable speed with which Himalayan weather can change.
