Tikkun Olam Giving Fund Exhibition 3 Introduction About the Artist My name is Murray Goldschmidt, and this is my first exhibition. After repeated encouragement from people who have seen my photographs and asked me to exhibit them, I am pleased to share this collection with you. My travel photography brings together wildlife, landscapes and encounters with people. I am drawn to the things that make me pause: a gesture between animals, changing light across a valley, or a brief moment in a busy street. The photographs, books and textiles here share some of those experiences. The exhibition moves through three worlds. Together they invite us to look more closely at the lives and places around us—a fitting starting point for Tikkun Olam, the work of repairing and healing the world. The Fund turns that attention into action by supporting people, education and stronger communities. The Wild An elephant raises a cloud of dust; a bird opens its wings. These photographs invite us to notice other lives, from the scale of a herd to details easily passed by. Look for the gestures and encounters that make each animal’s presence felt. The Earth Mountains, rivers and the night sky offer different ways of sensing our place in the world. Light reveals a ridge, water traces a valley, and stars gather above an orchard. Take time to follow their lines and consider the places they bring to mind. The Human Experience A glance towards the camera, hands at rest, a journey through the city. Work, tradition and companionship take different forms in different places. These photographs ask us to notice what makes each encounter particular, and what we recognise in one another.
